MECHNOLOGY PRODUCES MAIN TITLE AND VFX FOR MARK RYDELL'S 'EVEN MONEY'

Directed by Mark Rydell, Even Money stars Kim Bassinger and Danny DeVito, Nick Cannon and Kelsey Grammer.  Gambling addiction brings the stories of three otherwise unconnected people together as it destroys each of their lives.

Mechnology Studios produced the Title Sequence, various digital opticals, and visual effects for the film.

Working with title designer, Dan Perri (The Aviator), two scenes were created in the title sequence of the film.  In the first scene, vertical wipes and slow dissolves were used to mimic the rhythmic ocean waves as a body washes to shore under a dark pier.  In the second half of the sequence, titles are swiftly revealed and concealed by the slot machines, tables and inhabitants of the casino, as Kim Bassinger’s character is revealed, desperately playing a slot machine. http://www.mechnology.com/gallery/casestudies/film/evenmoney/cs_evenmoney.html

One extremely challenging visual effect shot involved removing a wire on slow moving steadycam shot.  The shot was over 1500 frames long and required building a 3D model of the environment, and tracking it to the camera.  Digital film grain was added to the final shot to match the original photography.
