Owner / VFX Supervisor - STEPHEN LEBED

Stephen Lebed has always been passionate about visual effects. He started out as a model builder working for Wonderworks, then moved to David Stipes Productions. Under the tutelage of David, he learned stop motion animation, matte painting, and motion control programming. From project to project, Stephen learned all he could as he moved up the ranks from a model builder to a visual effects cameraman; from motion control operator to 3D animator, and finally to a visual effects supervisor.

Over the years he ran his own model shop, and eventually found himself managing the computer graphics department at Encore Hollywood. He received recognition for his contributions to the Emmy Award-Winning visual effects on Star Trek: Voyager.

After leaving Encore, Stephen joined Spelling Entertainment where he worked as the visual effects supervisor for Paramount’s “Charmed” for its 8 year run.

With a passion for all things artistic, Stephen spends his spare time working on personal projects, often visualizing his ideas via elaborate 3D models. His sources of inspiration run the gamut from classic designs of the 1800s, to the most bombastic contraptions from 1980s sci-fi films. He also serves as the head of Mechnology Labs, actively researching new visual techniques and incorporating them into his work.
